The inbuilt screensaver of fire TV devices can be a nice feature to show photo slideshows while the device is idle or you are listening to Spotify etc. However, amazon have hardcoded the device to go to a black screen after around 20 minutes, regardless of whether the screensaver is active or not. However, there is a fairly simple method to remove or further delay the screen from going black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will need to be done from a laptop or desktop machine running Windows, MacOS, Chrome OS or Linux. This cannot<\/strong> be done directly from your fire TV device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before you start this you will need to know the IP address of your fire TV device. to do this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to ‘Settings’<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Go to ‘My Fire TV’<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Click on ‘About’<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click on ‘Network’<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. You will see you IP address noted similar to the below<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n
